What you do to start your day will have a profound impact on your mood, and possibly even your health. When you have a consistent routine, it will be even more powerful to help you easily get into and stay in a good mood in the morning and throughout the day. You do have a choice here, choosing how to start the day begins with you. Instead of turning over and reaching for your phone, choose to give yourself 10 minutes. These moments dedicated to setting your intention to simply lie there and tune into your surroundings. Stretch out on your back and practice being mindful, allowing yourself to start the day with a clear head. Focus on your breathing, noticing any areas of tension in your body make note of these areas as you breathe in deeply and exhale softly. Become acquainted to how you are feeling. Notice the sensations surrounding you — temperature of the air, the sound of your room, the feel of the sheets, etc.

Then, set your intention for the day by choosing one or two areas you'd like to focus on. Imagine flowing through events day how easy you will address the any situation that presents, work projects, interactions with people, eating healthy meals or engaging in healthy exercise. whatever the day holds, know that you can handle it! Practice focusing your mind on something positive from the start before plugging into your media. Just take time to breathe slowly and with intention. This will greatly improve your mood regardless of how overwhelmed you are.
